Molecular Environmental Surveillance Panels (EAD/ES)
​
Advances in technology and the drive to reduce animal usage are leading more facilities to adopt novel health screening approaches, such as Exhaust Air Dust (EAD) and Sentinel-Free Bedding Sampling (SFBS), over traditional methods involving sentinel animals. These techniques support the 3Rs—Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement—by decreasing the number of sentinel animals used, while also enhancing surveillance sensitivity, flexibility, and efficiency in colony health monitoring.

Cerberus PCR assays can detect a variety of viruses, bacteria, and parasites in environmental samples (ES) collected from a broad range of sources, including racks, cages, Air Handling Units (AHUs), surfaces, plenums, airflow areas, and sentinel free bedding. An EAD/ES panel is available for selection, and custom panels can be designed to suit your facility’s specific requirements.
