Rat Microbiology (Bacteriology & Parasitology) Services
Primary screening is conducted by bacterial culture or microscopy with secondary and confirmatory testing conducted by PCR when required.
Samples can be submitted as a transport media swabs, fresh faeces, certain tissues, or live animals depending on the pathogen for detection and facility requirements. Survival sampling has enhanced simplicity of quarantine testing of valuable animals, disease outbreak management, sample collection and transportation.
As the variety of agents available for testing is vast, the testing frequency and agent prevalence should be considered. Cerberus can assist in developing a suitable testing regime for your facility.
